The Naked Klay Hydrating Moisturiser is said to be creamy and rich in traditional ancient herbs with vitamins, antioxidants and botanical extracts to provide intense hydration and nourishment to help brighten dull skin. Formulated to help reduce the visible signs of aging and give your skin a healthy glow.
Packed with natural, primarily organic ingredients, the formula is lead by Sunflower Seed Oil, a well absorbed, lightweight oil without residue. Essential fatty acids help to maintain the skin barrier and decrease transepidermal water loss, keeping skin supple and soft. Antioxidants provide anti-ageing advantages, caretenoids make it a good acne treatment while anti-inflammatory properties boost new cell production and reduce irritation for a radiant glow.
Shea and Cocoa Seed Butters are plant-based emollients that mimic the lipid content of skin to promote a soft, smooth, healthy appearance. Emollient and antioxidant properties are boosted by the presence of Rosehip, Linseed, Olive and Pomegranate Oils. Beeswax and Glycerin contribute humectant properties to the cream, helping to draw moisture from the air into the skin.
Botanical extracts further strengthen antioxidant behaviour as well as contribute additional benefits. Ginkgo Biloba, Kakadu Plum and White Tea Leaf Extracts are potent antioxidants that help to improve elasticity and firmness, Kakadu being an excellent source of Vitamin C thus also delivering tone improvement. Antioxidant defense is also boosted by Vitamin E, Tocopherol. Meanwhile, adding a calming effect to the cream, Centella Asiatica and Burdock Root Extracts are great soothing ingredients with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
General emollient and skin conditioning behaviours round the formula and are imparted by Aloe Vera Leaf Juice Powder, Glyceryl Stearate, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate and Sucrose Stearate.

I introduced the brand Naked Klay in my first review of their 2-in-1 Detoxifying Exfoliating Mask. Their herb based range is made in Australia while being inspired by Chinese medicine and not tested on animals. That’s a great start!
As with the mask, packaging of the cream is luxurious. Presented in a heavy glass jar with a plastic inner lid and cap, it comes in a beautiful cylindrical, foam lined outer casing, keeping it secure and protecting it from accidental damage. The timeless matte black and white theme is bold and modern. It doesn’t have a dispensing spatula but I am happy to scoop it out with a finger. The cream is a little on the pricey side, costing AUD$80 for a 50ml jar but looking at the presentation and the formulation, it seems justified.
The moisturiser has a rich, glossy appearance and is sufficiently dense so that soft peaks hold as the product is scooped out. It’s quite a beautiful texture with excellent slip and elegant application. It has a natural fragrance that is mild, fresh and inoffensive. In fact, it’s quite pleasant, imparting a herbal aroma which dissipates fairly quickly. Dry down can take anywhere from 5-15 minutes, depending on the heaviness of application, whether mixed with oil or laid over a previous layer that has not yet been fully absorbed. The cream glides onto the skin effortlessly with silky satisfaction, soaking in without stickiness or tackiness. There is no sense of oiliness even though there is a good amount of natural oils and butters in the formula. The highly emollient composition does wonders to reinforce the moisture barrier with high fatty acid content, leaving no residue behind.
The feeling of moisturisation is more or less instant. Skin is significantly more supple, soft and plump. It’s quite remarkable how quickly this cream works to deliver these benefits. The effects reduce as hours pass, but are strong enough such that they last sufficiently between applications.
I have been using this moisturiser both day and night for several weeks and enjoyed every instance. It’s rich enough to quench thirsty skin yet light enough to be comfortable for all skin types. Its silky application and excellent moisturisation are sure to please. This makes an ideal night cream for all skin types throughout the seasons. It may be a little heavy in warmer months for oilier complexions however dry skin will love it at any time or season.
Regarding anti-aging and the reduction of the appearance of lines and wrinkles, the boost in hydration helps to plump out the skin and make them look less prominent. The antioxidant content will also assist to slow the formation of new/deeper lines and wrinkles by protecting against free radical damage. The combination of hydration and protection effectively addresses current and future concerns.
I have been most impressed by Naked Klay. Their formulas are superb and mostly organic, products aesthetically pleasing, applications elegant and performance satisfying. What more could you ask? This cream is a winner in my books as it meets all my criteria for a fulfilling moisturiser. I have no hesitation giving it my solid recommendation and tick of approval.
