The B-Liv Immerse Me Mask claims to provide a lavish boost of long lasting hydration that replenishes the skin.
Humectants, Glycerin, Sodium PCA and Butylene Glycol feature prominently in the mask to enhance hydration, the latter also assisting to increase the penetration of other ingredients. Next, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate forms a film on the skin to stop moisture from evaporating. It displays a strong hydrating power and a high water absorbing capacity which allows it to strengthen the dermis and increase skin firmness.
Featuring quite high in the INCI is Phenoxyethanol, a widely used synthetic preservative. It has global approval for use in all cosmetics at concentrations up to 1%, indicating that all ingredients that follow, each make up less than 1% of the formulation. And those ingredients include the stars of the show.
Added for its hydrating capability, Sodium Hyaluronate is able to fill the spaces between connective skin fibres for a plumping effect. Complementing this function, Cogongrass Root Extract boasts excellent long term moisturising effects. Lentil Extract is rich in Vitamin B5 and functions as a skin protector, conditioning agent and antioxidant. Emollient behaviour allows it to increase skin moisture. Galangal, Apple and Watermelon Fruit Extracts are rich in antioxidants so help to protect skin against free radical damage, thus targeting the signs of ageing. Watermelon also contains lycopene which is a potent anti-inflammatory carotenoid to help reduce redness and irritation. Apple is additionally mildly acidic for gentle exfoliation.
There’s also Hydrolyzed Baobab and Honey Extracts included for their moisture binding capabilities. Finally, Fragrance appears at the end of the INCI, a known irritant. Remaining ingredients comprise emulsifiers, conditioning and thickening agents plus preservatives.
Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Sodium PCA, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Chlorphenesin, Honey Extract, Hydrolyzed Adansonia Digitata Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Imperata Cylindrica (Cogongrass) Root Extract, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract, Propylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Alpinia Galanga Rhizome Extract, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit, PEG-8, Sodium Lactate, Carbomer, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Fragrance
The 10 masks come in an attractive cardboard box. Each sheet is presented in a typical pouch with tear off access. Masks are soaked in essence (28ml). Each includes a separator film for easy unraveling.
Remove sheet from pouch and apply to face. Leave on for 20-30 minutes. Remove from skin and pat in remaining essence. Use product immediately after opening.
The mask has a mild scent due to added fragrance.
A 10 pack of B-Liv Immerse Me sheet masks costs approximately USD$19.00 or AUD$27.00.
B-Liv products are available from the company website. Mine was gifted by the brand.
These sheet masks have a three year shelf life and should each be used immediately after opening.
Presented in a box for easy storage, each of the 10 masks are individually enclosed in an air tight pouch with a rip off opening. Packed with essence, a total of 28ml is included in each pouch. This is more than enough to cover the face, with plenty remaining. I like to use the left over essence on my neck, chest and arms for a moisture boost. The essence is clear and viscous but still runny. It absorbs well although does leave a residue in the form of a tacky, noticeable film. This doesn’t bother me since serum and cream follow, overriding that sensation.
Each mask is folded over itself and the sheet protected by a plastic insert that helps you unravel it upon removal to prevent it tearing. This works well. The sheet itself is very thin although sufficiently strong so as not to tear easily and clings nicely to the face for a comfortable fit that lasts throughout the half hour wear time. The eye cutouts are a fraction small and when it’s dripping with essence at the beginning, it can be a little uncomfortable. However, with subsequent sheets, I decided to wipe away the essence around these holes after placing it on my face to avoid exposure to the sensitive eye area. It adheres very well to the face, staying consistently in place and remaining quite moist by the end.
Unfortunately, the essence includes added fragrance. I much prefer to smell the result of the raw formula regardless of whether this is considered favourable or unpleasant, particularly when a mask is worn close to the skin for a significant time of 30 minutes. Nonetheless, the smell is quite subtle and non-offensive. It’s a little hard to describe but is partly medicinal, partly like a light alcohol. Although it didn’t cause me any problem, fragrance is a known irritant (even when last on the INCI) so there is a risk that it can have detrimental impacts on those with sensitivities. I suggest patch testing the essence before wearing if that is the case.
There is a cooling sensation throughout the entire wear time which I stretch to the maximum directed, 30 minutes. This would have an excellent anti-inflammatory impact for those suffering redness and any sort of inflammation. There is a noticeable increase in skin bounciness and plumpness, indicating good moisture transfer from the mask to the dermis. Perhaps the tacky film the residue forms might be responsible for its longevity, locking in moisture for a lengthy effect. Together with the benefits the rest of my routine provides, the mask helps to keep my skin well hydrated throughout the day.
These masks are affordable, each priced at USD$1.90 or AUD$2.70. They definitely represent excellent value for money.
Affordable and offering a noticeable boost to skin hydration, the B-Liv Immerse Me Sheet Mask is a great choice for all excluding those sensitive to fragrance.
