Commleaf Skin Relief Perfect Cleansing Oil
The Commleaf Skin Relief Perfect Cleansing Oil is an EWG verified gentle yet powerful cleansing oil infused with 80% plant based oils to remove makeup and impurities while maintaining moist and soft skin.
Vegetable oils make up 80% of the formula, Olive Oil at the highest concentration. Olive oil is a brilliant moisturiser and softener, able to penetrate deep into the skin to provide hydration and conditioning without blocking pores. It’s also a source of antioxidants, Vitamins A and E neutralising free radicals that damage collagen and cause skin dryness and wrinkles. From a cleansing perspective, Olive Oil is effective at breaking down waxy and water resistant substances like makeup. Comprising beta carotene, protein, lecithin, fatty acids plus vitamins A, D and E, Avocado Oil helps to moisturise and hydrate the skin as well as enabling accelerating healing and protection from UV radiation.
Evening Primrose Oil is rich in fatty acids which help to gently soothe, calm and moisturise the skin as well as combat acne. Improvements in elasticity also makes it ideal for mature skin. Similarly, Macadamia Nut Oil boasts a high fatty acid content. Oleic acid provides anti-inflammatory and moisturising benefits while Palmitoleic acid is a potent antioxidant which helps to heal and repair. Linoleic acid restores the skin barrier function and helps retain hydration. Like properties in Meadowfoam Seed Oil (a waxy oil which contains over 98% long chain fatty acids), make it extremely stable and resistant to oxidation and heat to both preserve the product and prevent water loss through the skin.
With 78% of linoleic acid, Safflower Oil acts as a lubricant to prevent water from leaving the skin, locking moisture in. As a result, it softens dry and rough patches for a glowing complexion. Geranium Oil assists skin to find the ideal balance of oil by helping to control sebum production. This in turn can boost elasticity and reduce acne. Geranium Oil is astringent with antibiotic and antiseptic properties so additionally displays healing the soothing effects. Finally, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is derived from coconut oil and glycerin so is an excellent emollient which can replenish the skin surface and resist moisture loss.
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia (Macadamia) Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil
The cleansing oil is presented in a clear plastic pump bottle with paper label and safety clip to prevent unintentional spillage. When new, it is also enclosed in cling wrap and within a cardboard presentation box. Commleaf use sustainable FSC packaging.
Perfect assessments are returned by both the CosDNA and EWG resources.
Take an appropriate amount onto hands and spread onto entire face. Gently massage into the skin in a circular motion to dissolve makeup and impurities. Then, moisten hands with water and lightly massage until the oil emulsifies into a milky texture. Rinse with tepid water.
This Commleaf Skin Relief Perfect Cleansing Oil has a light, natural scent.

Commleaf products are available at Korean skincare boutiques including Style Korean and Yes Style. I received mine directly from the brand without obligation for review.
The cleansing oil has a three year shelf life and must be used within 12 months of opening.
Firstly, I love that this Commleaf cleansing oil comprises so few ingredients. Simple formulations are often the most effective. And all rate EWG green which makes them gentle enough for most skin types, the only exception being those sensitive to any of the botanical oils included. The presentation is elegant and functional. Sustainable packaging and a vegan formula ensure contentment in all camps! The bottle is made from transparent plastic, suggesting it is not subject to light degradation. I keep mine on the bathroom counter top out of direct sunlight. The clear nature of the bottle also makes it easy to detect the volume of product remaining. The pump action has a safety clip to ensure it doesn’t accidentally discharge and also makes it somewhat travel friendly.
The oil itself is transparent with a yellow tinge contributed by a generous concentration of olive oil. It’s quite runny and retains a lot of slip upon application. It carries a natural scent, the outcome of the formulation with nothing added to enhance product smell. I would describe the smell as a typical pantry oil scent with herbal tones. It’s not at all overwhelming or overpowering, rather quite pleasant.
I use 2-3 pumps per cleanse, two for everyday impurities (light makeup and sunscreen) and three for a full face of makeup. As with all like products, I apply it to a dry face and massage it in circular motions for a few minutes. The ritual is very satisfying as the texture is silky and smooth. I often also use the Meejee Method to really break down the gunk within the pores for a couple of minutes. Because this offers gentle exfoliation, rinsing leaves my skin feeling extra soft and supple.

Upon completion, I wet my hands and continue to massage for a little longer to dislodge the product from my skin before fully rinsing it off. The oil emulsifies nicely, immediately turning a milky white upon contact with warm water. It rinses cleanly leaving the skin feeling smooth and even plump, without any noticeable residue. (I always perform a double cleanse at night regardless, so follow up with a water based product in preparation for toner).
So to the results. It should be noted that when I test a cleansing oil or balm, I don’t apply any additional tool or wipe to improve removal, using only my fingers to test its efficacy. So, the results below show the cleansing process without an additional cotton pad or towel to enhance results or ease makeup removal.
The Commleaf Skin Relief Perfect Cleansing Oil had no problem breaking down sunscreen and general impurities. Regarding makeup, it’s pretty effortless too. It removed my long stay lipsticks that other cleansers have struggled with although it did leave a slight mascara impression, progress shown from left to right, top to bottom. However, introducing a cotton round (which is typical in a practical setting), mascara removal was efficient. As such, I really think this is a lovely and highly effective product.
The Commleaf Skin Relief Perfect Cleansing Oil is a great oil cleanser. It’s minimal formula is safe, gentle and moisturising. It cleans sunscreen and makeup effectively, leaving no residue, rather resulting in soft and moisturised skin. It’s basically everything I look for in a first step cleansing product.
