Heimish All Clean Green Foam
the claim
The Heimish All Clean Green Foam claims is a gentle, low pH cleansing gel for everyday use. It is said to maintain the skinโs optimal pH balance while effectively removing impurities on the skin to leave a balanced, soothed and moisturised face.
the science
A relatively short ingredient list of 18 is dominated by water. Surfactants and cleansing agents feature prominently in the formulation, well represented by Potassium Laureth Phosphate, Soap Bark Extract, Potassium Cocoyl Glutamate and Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate. These have been chosen for their gentle nature, giving the product satisfying foam generating capacity and washing ability. A good amount of humectants are added to help balance the water that is potentially lost through the cleaning process by drawing moisture from the air into the skin.Glycerin is the primary one with Caprylyl Glycol present at a much lesser concentration.
Use of Gotu Kola in Chinese medicine is well documented. Topical application has been shown to have healing and anti-inflammatory effects which can lead to the fading of acne scars. Witch Hazel Water is obtained from the steam distillation of the eponymous (witch hazel) plant. It is a popular choice for acne prone skin as it is effective at balancing facial oils. High tannin levels also contribute antioxidant protection while flavonoids and resin have the ability to tighten skin and minimise the appearance of pores.
Supporting ingredients help deliver the product a well gelled viscosity and increase its shelf life while assuring an optimum pH of 5.5 is Citric Acid, a natural Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).

the performance
The Heimish All Clean line is very popular among the Korean skin care community. Personally, I love the cleansing balm. I reviewed the White Clay Foam previously. That product has great cleansing capability but can leave the skin a little tight with a slightly alkaline composition. The All Clean Green Foam addresses this factor, delivering an ideal pH of 5.5, confirmed by my tests.
The gel is viscous, glossy and cloudy in appearance. It dispenses easily and the fact that you can sit the tube with the opening facing down assures it is always ready for the next application while the removal of the cap helps you scrape out the very last remnants of it so none is wasted. I love that there is no added fragrance and negligible scent from the composition itself. It’s gentle nature is confirmed by excellent results from the EWG and CosDNA reports.
I have been using this as a first cleanse in the morning and second at night, following the brand’s balm. I dampen my face and apply a small amount to generate a soft, satisfying but not overwhelming foam with circular motions as directed. The feeling on the skin is mild and gentle. I perform a light cleanse in the morning and a more thorough one at night. The foam easily rinses off with cool or warm water. The balance of cleansing agents and moisturisers in the formula is perfect as the skin feels soft and clean after patting dry. The non stripping nature of the gel means the skin barrier isn’t compromised.
The cleanser is particularly suited and marketed to those with sensitive skin but I think it would suit anyone. Its effects remind me of the Cosrx, Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser which also offers an excellent, gentle clean. I prefer this one over the Cosrx because that one does have a fairly strong scent. However, I favour the Cosrx as the gel texture is lighter. The Heimish has a silicone-like texture to it which feels a little suffocating if you over apply. It doesn’t effect results or wash off, it’s just a personal dislike. Both are however excellent cleansers. Mine is combination skin and it responds very well to the formula. As it is not drying, it would be wonderful for mature and dry skin types while the acne and oil control properties it exhibits also make it an ideal choice for those struggling with an oily complexion.
the conclusion
Heimish has produced the perfect double cleanse pair in the All Clean Balm coupled with this ideal pH second cleanser. I appreciate both for the same reasons. They are well priced, gentle on the skin, moisturising and extremely effective. I have no problem giving this product my recommendation.
