Apricot Kernal Oil acts as an emollient. High essential fatty acids help to maintain the skin barrier and retain moisture without congesting pores. Goji Fruit Extract provides the same benefits from a similar vitamin profile. Although also providing an emollient effect, Karanja Seed Oil is used to treat eczema, psoriasis and other skin disorders as well as promote wound healing with strong antiseptic properties.

Grape Seed Oil is anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial so a great choice for treating skin conditions such as acne and irritation. Rosehip seed oil boast a high concentration of fatty acids, lipids that are vital for maintaining a healthy skin barrier. Compatibility with our own sebum ensures it is absorbed quickly without clogging pores to help facial oil balance.

the performance

The Trilogy No 15 Beauty Oil is a limited edition release that celebrates 15 years of skincare creation with a 15 super-seed oil blend. It is presented in a semi-opaque, frosted glass brown bottle to prevent unnecessary exposure to light. I store it in a drawer when not in use to help the cause so it doesn’t go rancid. The bottle lasted me around 9 months, (although I didn’t use it every day) and even though it does have a six month expiry upon opening, it didn’t degrade in any way and I continued to enjoy it until finished.

Trilogy No 15 Beauty Oil Significance
The dropper has an elegant gold trim and works effectively. The label is a celebratory gold as opposed to their typical red branding.

The blend of 15 oils includes seed oils from Baobab, Macadamia, Grape, Rosehip, Black Currant, Sweet Cherry, Karanja, Kukui, Mango, Mustard, Papaya, Passion Flower and Pistachio as well as Apricot Kernal and Goji Fruit Extract. Collectively, these contribute softening, anti-ageing, healing and moisturising effects, primarily due to a combined presence of fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants. The blend is a medium weight, certainly lighter than the brand’s signature rosehip.

The oil is a pretty pale yellow colour and has a lovely nutty, sesame seed like scent that is the natural results of the blend. I really like the smell which in fact dissipates as the oil sinks into the skin. This doesn’t take long when applied to a dry face. Within a few minutes, the oil dries down without a greasy residue, provided a conservative amount is used.

I have applied this in consistent bursts of several weeks at a time (using other oils periodically) in my evening routine, as well as occasionally in the morning. It has a lovely silky slip and glides on the skin effortlessly. I like to apply oils either prior to or combined with cream. I don’t pat my oils into the skin which is the common and directed practice, rather prefer to massage them in. The silky feeling of oil on the skin is soothing and luxurious. This one also works well when mixed with foundation. A couple of drops enhance the application and deliver a dewy complexion.

Regarding the product claims, this is definitely a unique blend so indeed a one-of-a-kind oil. I do believe that the composition would suit both oily and dry complexions, fatty acids helping to balance facial oils for both extremes. Due to its ability to replenish and nourish, I think this is a great blend for mature and dry skin types lacking natural oils and oilier skin will appreciate the sebum balancing formulation.

I never confirm antioxidant protection with any products. Short term use without controlled lab conditions makes it an impossible task. Suffice to say the formula certainly suggests such outcomes. I can however conclude that my skin is softer and more plump with a radiant glow when using this oil indicating a healthy natural barrier.

the conclusion

It’s a shame the Trilogy No 15 Beauty Oil is limited edition. Since it is not possible to stockpile more than one or two given looming expiration dates, using it is an experience I was recall fondly. I have one backup that I intend enjoying in the future.
