The hero ingredient, Lotus Seed Extract offers multiple skin benefits. Packed with antioxidants, flavonoids, fatty acids, proteins, vitamins and minerals, it can improve the appearance of pores and texture, hydrate and firm for an overall more youthful and fresh look. It contains natural AHAs to gently exfoliate. Together with Niacinamide, they can really brighten the skin and improve pore health for a fresh, healthy complexion.
Fermentation aids the absorption of the star ingredients which justifies the inclusion of Saccharomyces Ferment in the formula. Produced via the fermentation and filtering of yeast, it’s naturally high in amino acids, minerals, beta-glucan and vitamins. These properties are useful for delivering skin soothing, barrier reinforcement and overall health.
Humectant benefits are brought to the product through Glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate which bind water to the skin for a plumping effect. Finally, Adenosine is a proven wrinkle fighter and contributes anti-aging properties.
The essence comes in a frosted cylindrical glass bottle with dropper opening and screw top cap. My version also came with a box of cotton pads for application.
Dispense an appropriate amount onto cotton pad and gently sweep along the skin texture. Avoid eye and lip areas. Pat gently after to aid absorption.
The 150ml bottle of Primera Miracle Seed Essence costs approximately AUD$90 (correct at time of publishing).
This essence is available at quality Korean skincare boutiques. I purchased mine from Yes Style.
The product has a three year shelf life. I was unable to detect the expiration following opening, however, my bottle lasted less than 3 months so continuous use would keep it fresh until complete.
The Primera Essence is a highly respected product in Korean skincare circles. It is in fact something of a cult favourite, so I had to try it. Elegant packaging includes a heavy, frosted cylindrical bottle with a dropper opening for controlled dispensing. The bottle includes a scale on the side to guide the consumer with dispensing the correct amount. The recommended volume per application is 2.5ml. Twice daily use would see a 150ml bottle last only 30 days (AUD$3 per day/AUD$1.50 per application). Although the cotton pads are generous and soft, in order to preserve this expensive liquid, I avoided them in application and used my hands to pat it in, trying to make it last a little longer. However, I applied a second layer and concluded that this amount must correspond to the recommended 2.5ml volume per application since this beauty lasted me exactly a month. Gone far too soon but I think this approach made me really appreciate maximum benefits.
The essence is quite watery although slightly more viscous than water. It has no detectable scent. Slip is generous too so application with hands is very easy and pleasant. I tend to spread it across my face and then pat it in until it’s fully absorbed. This is fast and without any tackiness or residue of any sort. It simply plumps the skin by filling it with hydration. My skin feels soft and smooth, and this pleasantly lasts throughout the day (thanks also to a good moisturiser to lock in the hydrating effects).
The Primera Miracle Seed Essence isn’t marketed as a first treatment (rather a traditional one to be used after toner and before serum). However, I like to use it as an FTE straight after cleansing so it comprises the first layer of my routine and is the closest to the skin. In fact, after using this, toner becomes optional since it hydrates so effectively with instant plumping. If I do use toner, no more than one layer is necessary, although I’d prefer to use a second layer of this beauty in the same routine instead.
I’ve been suffering a few blemishes across my chin as a result of frequent and long mask wearing throughout the day at work due to the pandemic. Since starting this essence, these have become far less frequent and less inflamed so I can only conclude it’s reinforced my skin barrier, reducing the effects and penetration of acne causing bacteria.
This product is universally suitable. It’ll satisfy the driest skin with excellent hydration. Soothing and calming properties will help ease and balance troubled and acne prone skin with barrier strengthening. Aging and mature skin will appreciate the plumping effect which can smooth the appearance of lines and also the inclusion of Adenosine for wrinkle care. All will enjoy the texture enhancement and brightening effects.
I’m writing this review after completing the entire 150ml bottle. This essence not only hydrates like the best of them, it also brightened my skin tone, giving my face a notable fresh, healthy glow. My skin loves this stuff! The application is gorgeous, the immediate plumping is fantastic and the continuous glow and texture improvement is satisfying.
Highly praised products are always a little tricky to review. Expectations don’t always match performance but in this case, that’s not an issue. I love everything about this essence. It’s probably become my favourite. If only it was a little less expensive. Nonetheless, I will have it in my routine again one day.
